Yes, still happens in Taiwan. But for my wifeās relatives the women in the family are usually the ones pushed to cry and even get on their knees and crawl. My wife has not done that but her sister has. In the past alot of pressure to cry and wail loudly. The older folks will ask the younger generation to do this but (in my wifeās family) they are less willing to do so.

In the 1990s, we proposed a new business: the Western Womenās Wailing Corps, with our tagline as āFor the Gangster who had Everythingā. There were visa issues in those days though. Lol
