i’ve been wondering about this because it’s appeared in a lot of movies, pronounced “bi-atch”. i take bi-atch to me a wussy or a piece of man ass, not a woman. i just wonder why bitch has been pulled out of two syllables. ideas anyone? thanks.
prison ebonics
It’s an exaggeration of the pronunication of “bitch”, is all. Or, as TC says, “prison ebonics”.
I always thought came from the Bosnian city of Bihać. UK folk were always hearing the name on the news during the mid-90’s and noticed that “Bihać” can sound like “Bitch”
it sounds like a southern white woman’s pronunciation. give you an example:
gas- gai as
man- may yan
itch ee etch
bitch- bee etch
so bi-atch could mean white ho???
Watching your thought process makes me smile.
It’s not new.
It’s been around for quite a while.
Where have you been, lad?
Have you been hiding away in some backwater in Southeast Asia?

Always a favourite in Norn Iron in the 80s, that.
Billy went away with the peace-keeping force
'Cause he liked a bloody good fight of course
Went away in an old khaki van to the banks of the river Jordan
Billy saw the Arabs and he had 'em on the run
When he got 'em in the range of his sub-machine gun
Then he had the Israelis in his sights, went a ra-ta-ta
And they ran like Shiites
The usage has been around for a long, long time, but it wasn’t co-opted as a pop culture thing until 1997 when Eric Cartman sang “Kyle’s Mom is a Stupid Bitch” in the 1997 South Park episode “Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo.” In that song Cartman sang the legendary line “She’s a super King Kamehameha beyotch.” Etymologists are not certain, but this may have been the first Caucasian use of the term. Note that the King was not really a biatch but rather the founder of the Kingdom of Hawai’i. Note also that the term can be spelled beeyatch, beyotch, biatch, and sometimes hyphenated or apostrophized.
Well, Kyle’s Mom’s a bitch, she’s a big fat bitch,
She’s the biggest bitch in the whole wide world,
She’s a stupid bitch if there ever was a bitch,
She’s a bitch to all the boys and girls.
Monday she’s a bitch, on Tuesday she’s a bitch,
And Wednesday to Saturday she’s a bitch,
Then on Sunday just to be different
She’s a super King Kamehameha beyotch.
Have you ever met my friend Kyle’s Mom,
She’s the biggest bitch in the whole wide world,
She’s a mean old bitch and she has stupid hair,
She’s a bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch,
Bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch cause-a
She’s a stupid bitch,
Kyle’s Mom’s a bitch and she’s just a dirty bitch,
Kyle’s mom is a bitch-ahhhhh.
From there it spread like wildfire, and was soon registered as popular college slang. Interestingly, however, “bitch-ahhhhh” didn’t became popular. It does, however, sometimes sound that way when spoken with a Chinese accent. Also, biatch is somehow slightly less offensive than bitch. Imagine, for example, converting all the bitches in Cartman’s song to biatches. And then sing the song ten times fast.
Dave Chappelle reclaimed the term for African Americans in 2003 when every episode of “Chappelle’s Show” ended with “I’m rich, biatch!” followed by a horn toot. Of course, within a year or so, everyone was saying, “I’m Rick James, bitch!”
