Something like 3+4+5+6 would be ideal. Otherwise 7 guesses would be good too. 8 guesses seems not bad.
One thing I noted was, as soon as you know one word it seems good to play that immediately. You need to play that later anyway so might as well get the information soon.
So my initial strategy is to play CRANE. And then second word can try to maximize information from all 4 tables, unless somehow just CRANE gives you the answer for some of them.
