Wow I just got lucky
Daily Quordle #34
Me too. I didnβt even know that last one was a word. Had the chance to try all the remaining letters to see which ones could make a word. If the game didnβt show red for words not in its corpus, I would have been lost for sure.

I was almost to that point (thought I was for quite a while). However, given the greens I had and the letters left, I couldnβt βfailβ by entering an impossible word, so had to putz around until one was accepted. Todayβs was a doozy.
Lucky guessing again. No farting around.

Either my brain is fried from a 16 hour day of research and paperwork or the questions are getting trickier. Maybe both.

I made it finally, but this thing is somehow, you know, like, unfair or something.
Frankly speaking, a couple of wild and lucky guess were required to compensate for a poorly-considered, impulsive and unlucky earlier guess. Not an easy puzzle, at least for me.

Some of my guesses on this one were just plain dumb. I think I get brain freeze on this one.

Some weird words today!

Good day
Not a stellar performance, but at least I learned a new word. Unfortunately, the only uses for it that come to my lecherous mind have something to do with either a Scot or a Kiwi and a cliff. No offense intended. Donβt knock it 'til youβve tried it.

I had the bottom right solved in my third guess, but postponed to clear other words first.
Iβm glad I did it!

βI postponed to clear the other words firstβ
This strategy is not helpful. Think about it this way: If you 100% sure you know an answer, you have to play it at some point. Itβs better to play it ASAP so that you can use that additional information for the other puzzles. It also lowers your total score (one metric of success) without affecting the max number of tries you take to solve Quordle (another metric)
If you had solved the bottom right one immediately after knowing the answer, your total score would have been 4+5+8+9 (better than the current 4+7+8+9)
I would agree if you in this was true:
The thing is that playing the word once I knew the answer wouldnβt give me any additional information. I already knew which letter should be played, which words would use that letter, and in which position. I wouldnβt gain nothing for playing it at that time.
Instead, I used that round for a new guess, which did give me additional info for the remaining unsolved words.
My strategy above only works in the specific case where no new hint will result from typing the correct guess. Itβs not a general rule by no means, but when suitable, itβs a helpful strategy.
If you immediately played the answer, your score would have been 4+5+8+9 instead of what you ended up getting i.e. 4+7+8+9. This can be easily seen based on your progression. You can play it again and see for yourself.
Itβs definitely not better to ignore an already known answer in any scenario (assuming optimizing the sum or max metric).
Itβs true, however, that you might not necessarily get any additional information out of it. But your overall score will definitely not be worse (and in most cases, be better) if you immediately play the answer.
OK, I think I know what you mean.
Your rationale is that had I played the correct guess immediately, and kept all the other guesses the same, I wouldnβt get a worst result. Rather, at least the same but perhaps better.
Is that what you mean?
Yes, exactly. In this particular case it would lead to 4+5+8+9 (overall lower score). But in general it could lead to the same result as well. Just wonβt be worse if youβre optimizing for the sum/max metric.
