i  u.

I have to just hate on some — no — almost all of this thread. Honestly it reads like a suburban wet dream.

Where’s the Tribe Called Quest? Rakem and Eric B? MF Doom? Queen Latifah and MC Lyte?!?

Come son…

2pac was great. All Eyez On Me has to be in the conversation of best rap albums for sure. And one track that should have come up in the B-Sides thread: “Hit 'Em Up” was something else.

I’ve personally never understood Jay-Z. He just seems like a guy saying stuff in his normal speaking voice and sometimes it rhymes. Never been able to get into the flow with him, but I don’t fault him for making a butt-load of money and marrying Beyoncé.

I always dug Warren G’s Regulate… The G Funk Era album. I mean, as far as catchy tunes vs. filler goes, you get the most bang for your buck with that. But his second album was just okay and it was downhill from there.

Ok I will. But bed is calling so give me a moment.

Snickers NPR… suburban wet dream personified. LOL:joy::joy::joy:

From one of my favorite MF Doom albums…

I always think is funny how some entitled purist hates on one mans lyrics for being high school level, then loving the next man for writing lyrics that are actually almost the same thing. Fail.

I’m the furthest thing from a purist, but the difference to me is that MF Doom is more creative and has a sense of humor (and the music is much better too). Tupac is just boring…which is the only major sin in my book.

Tupac is the only rapper that makes feel something visceral.

Interesting. Pretty much the complete opposite of my experience.

You completely left out Sage Francis!

It’s more about his energy than it is about him rhyming enemies with Hennessy 5 times a song.

He did have a certain stage presence, but I guess I need a little more from the music.

Is this @rooftopclown’s alter-ego?
