Re: jeweler to drill holes in shell pendant

Hi all.

Any ideas on where to get this done? My dear sis bought some mother-of-pearl
pendants and wants to find a jeweler who can do this.

Much appreciated.

How much does she want to spend? She could just get a cheap dremel knock-off craft drill and do it herself. I got one for about 200 if I remember correctly.

I suggest you just go into a jewellery store and ask for some jeweler the store keeper knows that can do it. Most of store keepers will be glad to help.

Much appreciated all. May go to Dragonbones place and borrow his. As well,
for future reference, where can you buy a cheap dremel knockoff?

B&Q or Homebox have them. Guanghua market might have them too.

B&Q has the real ones, and they’re not that expensive, so if you do any hobby crafts, need to occasionally drill something small, etc., it’s worth having one.

Delicate shell is very easy to destroy with drilling. {Fracture through heat if I remember correctly}.
Professional job I think.
I had tiny mussel shells drilled once by an abalone jewelry professonal in NZ, and he did it only on the understanding that he may well destroy them in the process.
