We recently paid the deposit for a property we are buying, and we should have the keys in hand within 30 days. I’ve never had property anywhere before, so a lot of the real estate related vocab in Chinese is new to me. Lots of vocab I have picked up from talking to bank people, real estate agents, etc. but there are a few words I can’t seem to find the right translations for in Chinese.
The main one I am struggling to find a good translation for is equity:
ChatGPT told me 權益, or 房地產權益/房屋權益 when specifically referring to real estate. I tried searching online for examples of this, but I couldn’t find any that matched the English definition of real estate equity (e.g. how much of the property is actually yours after the loans are subtracted).
I’ve heard 股权 before, I think when registering my company, but GPT says it isn’t used for real estate, so I’m not sure.
There are some other words I’d like confirmation on to, if you guys know:
- Principal = 本金？
- Downpayment = 首付？
