You can apply to vote here.
Thanks for the reminder. Not that my vote will make any iota of difference in the People’s Republic of Victoria, BC.
No, but it’s good to get out the vote no matter who you choose. I did my registration today.
Me too. With a shorter election period (the bare minimum legally), hope the mail delivers it on time and vice versa.
Last time I used DHL because it’s fast.
It cost $1000 at the time.
I am looking at the dates and sincerely wonder if this tight timeline will actually work.
The last time I received a snail mail letter from Canada it took around six weeks to arrive . . .
Guy
this is interesting how it works for Canada, for Italians our mail votes for elections are yes sent to our registered address, but they are sent by the competent diplomatic post for that consular jurisdiction, and they you post it back to the office, not to Italy direct. So they will consolidate it and send it to Italy with Diplomatic bag.
You can bring it back to the diplomatic mission too. The deadline for that is several days before though if I recall correctly.
But we don’t have overseas constituencies like Italy.
The problem is getting the damn ballot in time. It’s being sent from CANADA where, as I mentioned, regular air mail to my address in Taiwan took around six weeks earlier in 2025. If this is normative time, it’s possible none of us here will get our ballots in time to meet the CTOT drop off deadline (that is, before the end of office hours on Wednesday April 16).
We’ll see how this goes . . .
Guy
That’s why I use DHL. It’s there in a week.
I am speaking of the first step: getting the ballot here! (not sending the ballot back there)
Guy
Have you done this before?
I have. I know for a fact they use DHL and know what they’re doing to get your ballot to you.
That’s not the difficult part, it’s not their first rodeo.
So Elections Canada will ask for extra $$$ to get that ballot to us more quickly?
If so, that’s new information to me.
Guy
No. It’s free to receive it.
The government does not use air mail for important matters like this.
There is no express or regular service. They have to get docs out quickly so they can be sent back on time.
And, they have the power of economies of scale.
Like, if you’ve never done it before, you can ask before assuming lol.
I’ve even done the Ontario election in Taiwan.
Look you’re the one who mentioned spending $$$ on DHL so I think you can understand my confusion when you backtracked and said things magically arrive quickly.
I did ask, and I’ll ask one more question: are you willing to post here when you get your ballot?
If so, I will do so too. I requested a ballot in Chewie’s riding to make sure my vote will effectively cancel his out.
The latter is a joke.
Guy
Absolutely. I’ve voted in every election in Canada since moving here. One Ontario election. Every Italian election since moving here.
But if you want to or have to send it to Ottawa, you have to pay.
I even am the OP of the other topic that declared the franchise was restored to us. Of course I’m on top of this.
I registered to vote when I was 17. I vote.
No need. It’s a Commie riding. Victoria (British Columbia federal electoral district) - Wikipedia But was once John A Mc’s riding.
Same here in Nanaimo…NDP stronghold
Just got mine. That was quick. I voted for Maxime’s Party (PPC) in Victoria BC. A wasted vote but a principled one.
I received a notification from DHL today about a package en route from Ottawa. I presume this means my ballot is en route?
Please say “yes” as I am looking forward to voting Green to try to balance out Chewie’s vote.
