Sewing machine repair shop for a Janome.
Checked in at one of those boutique quilting shops, and their technicians only repair Singer machines. Mine is a Janome. No, they won’t look at at. “It is not a Singer. Our technicians only know how to repair SIngers.”

Wonder what the chances are of there being a Janome specific repair shop around. (Here we go: Sometimes it just seems a bit frustrating here. Why can’t the Singer technician look at it? At least try. The sewing machine repair guy a few hours from where I came from [yes, that would be pre-Taiwan] is excellent at what he does, and repairs machines regardless of the brand…argh!! There must be some guy in a garage/1F apartment somewhere around here that is skilled at this kind of stuff.

Dehumidifier repair shop for Kolin needed.
There is a Tatung repair shop on a lane off SanMin Rd in Banqiao, but they only repair their brand. Of course, it is the Kolin that needs looking at, not the Tatung.

Hi kage,

For big brands or larger electronic goods with brands like Kolin, Sharp, etc. what I usually do is ask a local how to say the Chinese name of the brand if I don’t already know it, then call directory assistance and ask for the official repair center for that brand, then call them to schedule a repair. Since anything as large as a dehumidifier or larger is inconvenient to haul into a repair place, here in Taiwan they tend to send a repairman out to you. I’ve definitely done this with Kolin dehumidifiers. Give that process a shot in the future.
