Request individual tax filing extension

Hello,
Does anyone know if Taiwan has a process to request an extension to file your individual tax return? (Say if you’re out of the country for most of May this year). I can’t find anything on the government website.

I file late most years.

Ok. But what’s the penalty? And how late?

Month or two. Never paid a penalty.

Did you owe net tax or always had a refund coming?

Both. They really aren’t interested in levying penalties.

You can file your taxes early, or just file them online.

Possible if you receive all tax documents early on. Some of my documents will only be available in mid April. Doesn’t leave much time to do taxes.

I guess the simple answer to the question is no.

What documents?

Withholding statements. Equivalent of W2

I doubt you need them. Everything is in the system.

Look, here’s an idea. Go and see them. They’re very friendly.

You don’t need any documents to file online. You my need to provide some supporting documentation for some special exemption applications later on, this can be done by post.

You need the documents to check the information online. How else will you verify it ?

You don’t, data comes from the same source.

Why wouldn’t I ? The whole point of verifying is to check if the data matches. And I can match the overall withholding to what is shown in the monthly statements.

OK, sounds like your glass is half empty, best not to do anything. The fine for late filing is not so high anyway.
