Returning things I bought from PCHome and other online shops

I bought a bunch of home appliances, but realized that it’s not as good as I expected. I found there is a “return” button on PC Home purchases list, but I am not sure how it works. Do I get a full refund if I return within some specific days? For the US Amazon, it was full refund if I return within 30 days if I remember correctly. Same in Taiwan PC Home and Momo shop and other online shopping malls?

7 days I believe.

Yes

7 days for a full refund, packaging must be original and undamaged or there will be a repackaging cost deducted

“packaging must be original and undamaged” meaning, if I opened the packaging, used the product for 1 minute, and put it inside the package and seal it back, is that considered “packaged damaged” or not?

Depends on how you open it! They can sometimes be quite anal about it, sometimes they don’t seem to care, basically it has to be in resalable condition. Generally stuff like sticky tape and seals need to be sliced open with a sharp knife so there is no tear on cardboard etc. Obviously needs to be clean and all the packing materials placed back correctly.

I’ve never had an issue with PCHome returns, even when the cat decided the packaging was going to be his new scratching post. Anything that can’t be returned should have a “no returns if opened” warning on the packaging.

I have the inner product packages. But the most-outer PCHome box case is lost. Instead, I have a box case for another product that I bought from Momo shop. So this box has Momo mark. But this box fits quite well. Can I use this Momo box case to wrap the good that I am trying to return?

Yes, but you’ll need to print out a return paper and put it on the box.

Have never tried but I don’t see why not as they don’t appear to re-use the returned cartons. Pay attention to the 7 days though.

In case it’s useful to anyone, below is my experience of returning a cellphone to PCHome. Nothing physically defective with it, just several features were missing or unable to meet my needs.

I carefully packed the phone back in the original box and returned it within the 7-day window. However it was obvious the item had been used. I had also inserted my SIM card into the phone briefly.

PCHome picked up the box, and the return status on the website changed from “Inspecting item” to “abnormal return” where it stayed for 7 days. After calling them, turns out they sent the phone back to the vendor for inspection and resetting.

After vendor inspection, PChome emailed me set of photos showing what was “abnormal” about the return (seals on the box were cut, USB-C cable packaging was gone). They then offered 3 options:

  1. Dispute the vendor’s inspection photos with photos or videos of my own.
  2. Keep the item - they will send it back to me.
  3. Proceed with the return, but with 10% deducted for a restocking fee (as they now have to sell it as an “open box” welfare item).

I chose option 3, I think a 10% fee is fair, though a rather expensive lesson (I’d used the phone for less than 3 hours).

Note there’s no guarantee that PCHome will accept this type of return. They could have refused and forced me to keep the item as it wasn’t defective. Also, according to Mobile01 the PCHome restocking fee can be as high as 30%, depending on the item.

It’s best to buy from Costco whenever possible, as they accept any return for free no questions asked.

Before ordering mobile devices, I would recommend to go to any physical store and get hands on first. Albeit not possible with every device as some are distributed exclusively online.
