ROC 100 years ... MOFA of ROC 150 years

So, according to the TT article there is an exhibition started about MOFA of the ROC being 150 years in business, showing diplomatic document … I could be stupid, but how can a Ministry, diplomatic service be older than the actual republic?

The ministry dates back to the Zongli Geguo Shiwu Yamen, literally meaning Office in Charge of Affairs of All Nations, which was the name of the government office of imperial China during the Qing Dynasty.

The Ching dynasty’s MOFA That is why with a certain Latin American country we have diplomatic relations for 138 years, since a consulate opened there in 18-something to tend to teh affairs of Chinese immgrants and such.
