Routing number for my Taiwanese bank account

where can i get the routing number for my bank? i need to provide a 9 digit routing number to link my taiwan bank account to paypal. thanks guys

Which bank is your account in?

Normally the thing to do is ask your bank this question. BTW, I’ll move this to the Business and Money section, which covers banking issues.

taiwan cooperative bank

The bank code (銀行代碼) for Taiwan Co-operative Bank is 006. Then there’s the code for your branch and the SWIFT code (seems branch-specific), both of which you can find here: tcb-bank.com.tw/tcb/services … ft_add.htm

You’ll also need your account number within the particular branch – this should be on the front page of your passbook. Also here’s a list of all the bank and branch codes. It also seems to say Taiwan Co-operative Bank full account number should have 13 digits.

Not sure what information you need to give Paypal, but the SWIFT/bank/branch/account codes would normally be enough to do an international transfer.

SWIFT code is not accepted. Must be a 9-digit code but Cooperative bank does not have such a code. anyone have an answer to this ?

Routing numbers are a US thing. You won’t be able to hook up your existing PayPal account to a Taiwanese bank account.

The only bank in Taiwan working with PayPal is Yushan, but I think they can’t link to US accounts of PayPal.

Swift codes are usually 8 or 11 digits. Can you enter 8? Simple remove the XXX from the code for the HQ:

actually I just found out E-Sun bank in Taiwan do have have routing numbers and you are able to hookup paypal through them

It will not work. 9 digit routing number is for US bank accounts.

For Taiwan to use paypal the only way is to open an account at E Sun bank. Then using the online banking website to link your paypal account so you can withdraw.

Yes, Yushan is the only bank that works with PayPal. But I believe only for Taiwanese PayPal accounts.

Once you have your E Sun bank online banking setup (you must do this at the branch)

A new window will pop up (disable your pop up blocker), and Paypal will ask you to authorize the link.

How expensive does PayPal work out as in Taiwan, just out of interest? In terms of both receiving a payment and depositing it into an E.Sun account, I mean.

I suppose there’s also a high exchange rate loading if working with non-TWD incoming payments? (Does PayPal even accept TWD?)

I’ve used it in the past outside of Taiwan, but not in several years as I always felt I was being extorted with the percentage deducted from incoming payments. Is it any better here?

I tried to use PayPal to receive payment in Taiwan in twd and they won’t allow it for some reason. The difficulty is if the payer wants to do credit cards.

So it means having to receive in USD or whatever (with a decent fee), converting to TWD on PayPal (with a decent fee), and withdrawing to E.Sun (with a fee)?

There is no fee to withdraw to a E Sun account. Just the PayPal fees and currency conversion.
