It’s a phone, it’s a reader, it’s a browser… it’s on sale this month in CHT. Looks prety cool, if you ask me, but is it useful, convenient? It’s Android, is it better than iPad? It has better battery, I read. Seems a worthy investment, only 2K down and then unlimited fo less than 1K. Any warnings out there?
Yeah, it’s an Android tablet and currently they suck, more or less.
The problem is that the OS isn’t finished, so you either get Android 2.2 which isn’t meant for tablets, or you get 3.0 which, well, it’s sort of getting upgrades on a bi-weekly basis…
Take the Motorola Xoom for example, the micro SD card slot isn’t functional as yet, which is just plain embarrassing.
Shared sentiment. If you want a tablet, right now it’s best to get an iPad or to just not get a tablet.

Icon, DON’T buy a Samsung Tab. Wait for the Samsung Gloria (Win 7, 10", slider keyboard), or maybe even wait longer. At present, you might consider a Windows 7 tablet, like the Acer Iconia, or ASUS EP121. Good reviews except for 3.5 hr battery life… and anything that runs on Win 7 will run on a Win 7 tablet. The Iconia is equivalent to carrying around two tablets… not very appealing, but you could watch two HD movies simultaneously. The EP121 is as practical as the Iconia is impractical.
Personally, I’m waiting for a Win 7 tablet that can outperform my Lenovo X201s, which has an i7 low-power CPU and 1440 x 900 resolution, 12" display. The Gloria is getting close, but still short of the X201s performance and display threshold.
Funny thing is back home they are introducing the Viewsonic tab and everyone -inluding my brothers- is so excited…
My sister-in-law has a Samsung Galaxy and she loves it.
I was at Lenovo H.O. the other day and took a look at their U1. Very nice concept. The best combination of a tablet and laptop it seems.
If you mean a Galaxy Tab (the Galaxy line also includes phones, e.g., Galaxy S), then if she likes the Samsung Galaxy Tab, she’ll love the Samsung Gloria.
