Does anyone have experience using these to stay in contact with loved ones over seas? Advice requested. Thank you in advance.
why?
I’ve used immarsat when deployed in austere environments - sound is crappy, high latency. they’re great for emergencies or when there’s no other option, but not generally used as a stay in touch option due to both cost and performance.

A friend of mine uses Starlink. Much better than immarsat which when you had it was not able to provide great bandwidth. Cruiseliners and airliners have better coms nowadays.
As for Taiwan a cell phone has great connection and with whatsapp line skype and other media one place calls for free anyway.

I know folks in US using Starlink, probably the easiest for consumers. Use them in remote mountain areas.
Why use this unless your loved ones are on pacific islands or something ?
