Savoy cabbage, curly kale ... borecole

Anyone interested in some fresh savoy cabbage or borecole …?
I’m waiting for answer from one of my suppliers, but need some questions answered first before I place the order …

PM me if you want to be on a waiting list … and have some questions …

Tomorrow night I know probably more about the quality and origin … price, delivery

That savoy cabbage is one of the first things my wife wants to eat when we go to the UK. I’ll see if she wants some.

The cabbages and borecole are on the way … arrival on Friday for Saturday’s and Sunday’s food services … mashed with potatoes, and served with smoked sausage … and gravy … :lick:

I’ll tell her. She’s still planning on bringing the office ladies over there to your place. We were mighty impressed. Especially by the sprouts without the cross carved into the stems.
That Cornish game hen was absolutely fantastic!

I have seen what look like winter ncabbages growing in Miaoli to make ‘fu cai’ , a type of fermented Chinese sauerkraut. Are they different from the cabbages you are importing? Being from a certain wet and windy country I like my cabbage…

Don’t know … have to investigate …

They only grow these type of dark green cabbages (similar to kale) in the winter and usually used by the farmers to make ‘fu cai’ as I mentioned, that’s why you may not see them sold in the shops/hypermarkets so much. They grow a few different types, one is ‘Jie Lan Cai’ but they do grow others too.

The only winter cabbage I know is ‘Long life cabbage’ …

BTW, did you ever follow that up. It is no problem to ask somebody to grow cabbages for you in Winter, they will grow well in Miaoli, hell they grow about 50 different vegetables outside their homes in the towns there! I could get my in-laws to grow it, no need import the stuff

I know, they grow curly kale even in Spain … but for now that’s on hold …
