Scalpel Blades

Don’t worry, I’m not going to off myself. If I wanted to, there are far less painful solutions.

Every pharmacy I’ve tried, I get weird looks and curt head-shaking. In South Africa, you can get them at any pharmacy, with nary a suspicious glance.

Taipei.

I’d probably use Shopee for something like that.

Why do you need it? Does it have to be sterile? If not, maybe use a #10 craft blade?

If they are the none sterile type you can get them at the stationary supply shops or the 24h store.

I have a couple of boxes here if you was close by you could give you a foil wrapped pack of 5 blades.

Just to note I’m not doing surgery as a side gig, so don’t come to me looking to get stitched back together…

What’s “the 24h store”? Are you talking about that one over somewhere near Da’an Park?

‘Scalpel’ blades are used by designers in their pen style knives.

This type that tend to sell a little of everything.

Does it need to be sterile? If not any stationary store has it.

Is there a Chinese name for those sorts of places? I’ve always called them an “everything store”; I think I picked that up from other foreigners in Tainan.

There is and it translates to “5 gold treasures” or something similar, but I couldn’t write it down.

Oh I saw that chain in Kaohsiung last week but have never seen them in Taipei (though it seems they exist, mostly in New Taipei).

I normally refer to those (and have heard them referred to) as “everything stores” because the ones I go to aren’t 24 hours. I thought you were talking about a specific place.

Yeah, I picked it up from one of my flatmates when I first arrived in Taipei. I remember having no idea what he was referring to when he used that term. I’ve since passed it onto other people (because they remarked on it when I said it).

Down here I have never heard them called that, always the 24Hour store, or “wu Jing haung” excuse my terrible Pinying.

It seems there’s a lot more of that chain in Kaohsiung (or the south in general?)…so it might make sense as it is 24 h. I was actually mildly surprised when I passed one of the 24 h stores in Kaohsiung last week - wouldn’t mind a few more of those in Taipei!

In Taipei City they seem pretty rare, and the only 24 h one I’ve ever seen is the one I mentioned somewhere near Da’an Park…hence my question!
