What schemes are there for first time buyers? My wife is Taiwanese so they do not need to apply to foreigners. I have heard you can get a mortgage with less than a 30% deposit if you are a first time buyer but can’t find any info.
If your wife works for any type of government bureau (teacher, etc.), you’ll get a loan rate that is better (lower) than the average person. My wife did.
Every year or so, the local banks compete for this segment, and so the bank that offers such a loan may change at any given time - the idea being that government workers will never get fired from their jobs, and thus offering them loans is very low-risk for banks.
