I had a time on that one. I’ve seen a noun like that one before (that one looks like an adjective, although I guess it could be a noun), and I guess the two words are related, but I was mildly surprised when Scholardle accepted my answer.
I’ve had a few like that with Scholardle–situations where I’m baffled, so I just try different combinations of letters, and I keep getting refused (i.e., the puzzle indicates that what I’ve submitted is not even a real word), and then finally my random efforts pay off somehow.
I’m about to go look my answer up. 
I’m back. Yep, it’s an adjective, and the two words are related.

I have a chemistry background, but that was mega obscure. Lots of permutation guessing and finally nailed the right combination. Glad that an invalid word is flagged as such without wasting a round.

I’ve seen the noun form of it somewhere. An ingredients list? I don’t remember.
I dropped freshman chemistry in college, I think around the part where they were covering electron spin, or something like that. Parts of the course were interesting, but I think that if I’d kept going, I would have probably failed it.
