We are in Taichung for a short trip to deal with the remains and financials of a family member who is a USA citizen, but was permanent resident in Taiwan. We have had a lot of great help so far and have dealt with the funeral. Now we need to close out his banking. We have been told we need a lawyer to draw up something like a power of attorney to prove next of kin. Does anyone know about this? Any English speaking lawyers in Taichung? Is there any taxes for sending money back to the US?
