I was hospitalized and spent nine days in hospital for that, 3 years ago in Taiwan. I went in unconscious and woke up with an internal drain going from my gall bladder to an external bag. It was very painful.

Jeezus! If you don’t mind replying, what happened to precipitate this awful sounding series of events?

I went to the doctor in the late afternoon to say that my stomach hurts, so they gave me the usual medicines anti biotics etc. He that if my stomach got more painful in the evening I have to go straight to the emergency.

The specialist at the hospital said it was viral which caused a lack of blood to organs and my gall bladder had necrosis. . And was poisoning my system. They were going to remove it but were worried about blood loss, so went for the drain.

In fact I remember I did wake up briefly before they put in the drain as I was in shock in the ER. . I suddenly was shaking from the cold then got very very hot. Finally I got all spaced out and felt comfortable at peace and then passed out again.

So, the surgeon said likely a stomach virus. That led to inflammation and necrosis of the gall bladder that led to sepsis… All happened in about 24 hours.

Thanks , I was just surprised to see that article posted. I knew the death rate from septicemia is high but never realized it was that high. I’m to totally better but just get a little paranoid if I get stomach pains.

That was still Covid times as only one or two family members could visit.

Wonder if the majority of cases or what percentages of each in Taiwan are from internal or external causes.

That would be interesting to know. I think eating “Clean” might help. By that I mean not consuming large amounts of junk foods, eat good vegetables …

However that’s purely speculation on my part..
