I’m not missing the point but I may not be addressing yours adequately. There are about 70 years of executive wars powers that came before right just now.
I’m saying a little public pressure may open some doors and cut through some of the red tape.
If moral lectures alone sped up DoD disbursements, she’d already have been paid.
So what are we taking about now, or are we still talking past one another?
I came here from the temped thread to comment on this picture. I don’t have time to read the surrounding arguments, but I had a feeling that looked more like a Greek helmet than a Roman one. Well, google reverse image search led me to the original:
I will be honest I didn’t consider even checking the photo’s origin (cool you reverse imaged that!), I just thought the words were really impactful and that they do loosely summarize a (very relevant still today) point Plato made.
These words not necessarily being said by Plato directly should not tarnish their meaning, but I can certainly see how focusing on that imperfection alone is one surefire way to avoid any cognitive dissonance they might cause.
Glad this is being talked about. Sad that this kind of discrimination is still so normal in the US – ironically the people engaging in it are among the trashiest Americans you would meet.
