My friend in the USA wants to put all of this seasons SD Chargers games on a server for me and others to watch via computer. How can I find server space locally and how much would it cost?
Hey Panda… If he will throw the Falcons on there to I will split the cost with you if it is not too high
Yousendit was discussed already but people mentioned about spyware and limitations on download. I think only a certain number of people can download a specific file. Our game files will be about 800MB per game and 25-50 different people around the world will download the game each week after it gets uploaded on monday mornings. Last year we used a server setup and it worked out very well but that server space is unavailable now.
I see, I thought it was mostly for your own benefit. In any event, I just emailed you about your server needs.
I think the cheapest way is to set up your own server at someone’s place with a good internet connection and static IP. Unless there are other services I don’t know about, getting gigs and gigs of server space is fairly costly.
There would not be more than 1 Gig of data at any one time. Each week we will delete last weeks game and add the new game. The space needed is about 800Mb. There will be about 25 people from around the world d-loading the file each week.
I dont think he would do 2 games as 1 game takes alot of time and editing work already. However, I’m sure you could find someone who does it for Atlanta fans, if you search hard enough for it. ![]()
What about if he seeds the games as a bit torrent file?
I think this would be the best way. It’d be cheap and fast. The missing link would be instructing everyone on how to use Bittorent.
Definitely worth looking into (if not for this year, mabye next).

We are trying out Yousendit.com for the 1st half of the Chargers-Rams exhibition game from Sunday. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Bittorrent seems like as good of an idea as any. Another idea is that if you have this many people downloading all the files you could look into sharing the cost of a dedicated server.
Have one user upload the file to the ftp and then everyone could login to the ftp and download it. A lot of places offer in the area of 1200gb/month.

to name a couple. The other downside to the bittorrent is that depending on who is initially seeding it if they do not have a fast connection it’ll start slow and get faster. You could also seed the torrents from a dedicated server such as those listed above.
Just another idea
