'Sex for rent’ listings target young women, international students in Canada

A CBC Marketplace investigation (linked below) exposed many vile ads on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace where Canada’s scummiest landlords are preying on the desperate, demanding blowjobs or “live-in girlfriend” deals for a damp corner in their shitty, mold infested shacks. One creep asked for nude pics just to apply, while another dangled tuition cash for “ongoing banging.”

‘Free room for rent,’ but there’s a catch: Undercover investigation exposes shelter-for-sex ads

Very disgusting. The legal professor on the video states enforcement is the problem. Cops don’t seem to want to do much. Too busy having Timbits?

More likely too busy prosecuting people for acts of self-defence and free speech that criticizes the government.

Yip, that certainly seems to be the trend in most of the Western Anglosphere at the moment.

Not sure that would be illegal in Australia, it is just an arranged sugar daddy relationship at the one end and private prostitution at the other, maybe it would breach residential tenancy laws, but I’m sure it could be organised outside of that regime. Is sex work illegal in Canada?

If the story was the landlord increased the rent or threatened eviction in order to extract sex…. Now that would be wrong.

Wait this happens in the UK too?

That’s unfortunate. It may disrupt @comfy123 's comfy narrative. Or, more likely, it’ll have no impact and he will carry on unfazed.

And more…. Australia in on the disgusting habit…

Et tu, Australia? :sob:

Guy

Nah it’s foreigners in Australia. Even says it in the link.

The landlords who offer student accommodation are also most often foreigners.

In the Netherlands you can legally exchange sex for driving lessons from a qualified driving instructor. They said something about helping women in poverty …

Clinging on to try to stay floating

So how about this then? No foreigners to be seen

There are hundreds of news articles over the last decades on this behavior in Australia, it’s disgusting and shouldn’t happen anywhere

I’m in two minds on this, some form of this has occurred since the beginning of our species.

Also, some female students (an extreme minority) might actually seek out this type of arrangement whilst studying. Should we punish those women who feel they don’t have the time and/or means to pay rent?

I know of a couple of women who paid their way through university on their backs… an exchange for accommodation with one person seems like a less extreme version of that.

Often called, marriage

Indeed.

Does it work with the examiner too?

No. It’s just allowed for the driving lessons. Doing that with the examiner would be illegal.

If withholding sex is grounds for divorce why can’t it be grounds for eviction? Either way somebody has to move out due to a lack of sex.

“The Pingtung District Court has granted a couple’s divorce request on the grounds that they did not have enough sex.

The court heard testimony that the couple, surnamed Chao (趙), both in their 30s, had sex only once per month on average.”
