Is bargaining at markets something people do? Genuinely curious after watching her, although in jest, attempt to bargain on some items.

I think people used to bargain a lot more often. I don’t see it much anymore, especially in Taipei city. If people do, it’s done passively, e.g. “Is it $300 each? How much if I bought two? . . . What? $600? Oh OK.”
