Many people and the government says Shilin night market is the best in Taipei, which is rated 3rd worst night market in Taiwan, and indirectly infers all other night markets in Taipei are worse than the third worse in Taiwan.
the locals like to put it down because its the most touristy, the food isn’t that special (although i always find something) and the underground hall area is different than what was there before (which was also different than what was there before that)
for me if i had to choose i would agree with the food point somewhat, although maybe its because its so big i don’t know what to eat. but its still my favorite night market. one of the coolest and most memorable places in taiwan. i went a day or so after first arriving to taiwan and i’ll never forget it.
