Simple Mart to acquire OKmart for NT$125 million

Buying a convenience store chain is a lot cheaper than I thought. Good reminder of how slim the margins must be.

Darn. Maybe we at forumosa should get together and put in a competing bid. That’d be … well, not at all fun, but it would at least elicit some amusement.

I guess it’s priced this way since most (all?) are franchised out.

It’s also not the most prestigious brand compared to 7/11 and FamilyMart. I remember some time ago it was ranked number one in violations for selling cigarettes to minors :D.

My old workplace used to have one convenience store on site—OK Mart. The running joke was that this convenience store was . . . not OK.

What’s the next step? Making it not simple?

Cool. Now likely more branches island-wide to find SM’s good (and not expensive) foreign beers.

Mine is it’s not great, just OK

Would make the “which convenience store do you support” thread take on a whole new dimension

OK Mart is the absolute bottom one of them all….. Hi Life actually has some good stuff, some interesting beers, but the real debate is between Family Mart and 7-11. Simple Mart is kind of a cross between a convenience store and small super market. They have good deals on stuff but they aren’t open 24 hours. I remember when I first got here, I thought it was “S-Mart.” Shop smart, shop S-Mart, ya got that?!?!?!?!? But unfortunately, they don’t sell any boomsticks. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/14ikjKhK7bI

Sounds like a good move.

OK mart offers zero. Its 4th place after hi life which is at least slightly different to family mart/711. So it makes sense to take it and make it better somehow.

Simple mart is decent too. I go there quite often as they are nearer to my house than a supermarket and they have some different stuff I didnt see elsewhere.

It seems that they rebranded, anyone saw the new Ok mart brand image? Looks very similar to some lawsons

Is it great or just OK?

So in Japan, there is LAWSONS and NATURAL LAWSONS.

Can we look forward to a similar brand differentiation in Taiwan between OK and NATURAL OK?

OK Mart Shops
new Logo

OK Mart debuted a new blue-and-white visual identity and a stylized graphic logo—described by internet users as looking like a fish—at its Banqiao Daren branch in New Taipei City, which serves as the brand’s first concept store

Looks more like a coin laundromat

Certainly looks water themed.

Well I’ve seen worse. Prosperty fucking plaza worse. So this is not that bad I guess. Curious to how it looks in the store.

Is that a half-filled bed pan inside the O? Not sure what they’re going for…

Naturally OK!

:+1:

I admit I have my doubts.

Guy

Are you OK?

I have been in an OK in my neighbourhood, and after that experience I am not sure! :runaway:
