I agree it should be restricted to private residences and strict licensed areas only.
It is not meant to be a deterrent. It is a punishment. Same for the Bali 9 in Indonesia and other Australians in Singapore that were executed. Also for the Australians Malaysia hung when I was in the foreign service. The outrage was all over the media.

Even so, the execution for drug trafficking should never be capital punishment. Capital punishment is only applied to the most serious crimes (i.e., homicide or terrorist attacks).
Its nothing like Ireland at all. The two places are incredibly different.
