Taipei expat grandfathers of goth punk celebrate the release of their long-awaited CD “Freak at the End of the Rainbow” Saturday night at 10:30 with a blowout gig at the Living Room. Come see what the lads have concocted. 200NT gets you in AND gets you a copy of the new CD. See you at the SKY BURIAL show…
Oh, I wish I could be there. SKY BURIAL puts on a great show!
Congrats on the album release. Can I order mine to be sent by mail?
Great show last night boyz. The new songs are brilliant. Thanks or the CD. I’ll go back to 1999 and get a CD player now.
Sky Burial is tighter than ever. I’ve been watching these guys since the early jams at Citizen Cain. I have to say I saw a much different show than I’ve become accustomed too. Vulture, while always dynamic, has become deliciously enigmatic as he has matured into a very present (as in “stage-presence”) frontman. He is really taking his audience on a ride of horror, depravity and other unmentionables as his songwriting has continued down (and I mean down) the squalid path of insanity. In particular, Tales of a MidWestern Meth Chef really cuts to the bone. Still ripping out their blazing signature piece Filthy Sanchez, but now accompanied by a haunting, vile song of fatherly love…fucked up shit man. Maybe it is because of this love that the band seems so intent on keeping “her” off the pole or maybe it’s just the TV in them. Who can tell for sure? These nice boyz by day, goth superheroes by night are really defining a niche for themselves in Taiwan’s very crowded and talented foreigner local bands scene.
Buzzard is still tossing his axe around like he was born with it in his hands. (And congrats on the wee bairn Bri) The guitar solos were mind-ripping. Can he actually be gettng better? I think he is.
Drummer Kite too. Sticks hardwired into his heartbeat. New bassist Hawk adds a dimension of freaky, as he plays joyously on his backup vocals while thump thump thumping away on his thick strings.
It was a long mutha of a set too. 2 hours. A few 'sonic problems" plagued the first few songs, but honestly, I was glad for the muted guitar as I was really able to hear the lyrics better. Once the Cherry came out, the night really began to rock tho.
Speaking of lyrics, I dreamt I died whilst fellating my father with a shit-eating grin on my dog face. Just another day at the office for Sky Burial.
Thanks again guys!

BTW, anyone know Amber and Emily, the ladies I was sitting with? Love to get in touch with them again. Sure beat sitting between two former bass players of the band. Glad they left early. Disgruntled ex-band guys are waaaaaaaaaaay too critical…haha…just kidding.
To be fair, they also felt you guys were tighter than ever.
