Hmmm, I can’t understand what your problem is exactly.
Yeah, I get that a lot. ![]()
(badumtss!)
But this reply is a good example - on my phone I long-pressed your original text to get a word selected, adjusted the selection, then tapped Quote from the pop-up menu provided by the site. Et voila’ this Reply box opens with the selected text pre-filled and here I am typing below it.
But probably 75% of the time that initial selection doesn’t happen and it is literally impossible to quote!
As a workaround you could hit reply and use the button on the left to quote the whole post. Delete parts of the quote which are not needed.
Pretty painless move to the new server.
One thing I noticed is that the Reply window is much smaller than before. However, if I drag the top up to make it bigger the change is remembered. Looks weird at first, but the fix is quick.
Anyway, congrats on a boring switchover, always the best kind.

Just curious, what prompted the switch?
Hopefully the pictures were moved along this time!
Do you remember the forums going down twice last year?
That was my fault because I didn’t pay the hosting on DigitalOcean. Part of that was because the pictures (and other uploads) that @Marco mentioned were hosted in a separate droplet from the droplet that the Discourse software is sitting in. So when I thought I paid off the DigitalOcean bill, I forgot there was another bill that also had to be paid. And then when I would go in to settle the second droplet, I wouldn’t be able to access it without involving customer service because I was delinquent on the account.
tldr; we are rightsizing and simplifying the DigitalOcen account to avoid a persistent payment issue that I created a few years ago.
Having just tried to setup a non-static website on a web host, I now realized how much painful configurations and administration it requires to just get everything running. I was looking into combining discourse with my website, and then realized it would require at least 2GB of DRAM on the VPS or whatever cloud virtualization and I wasn’t ready to pay for the domain name…
Anyway, the new server feels great. I think the favicon hasn’t been restored, but it’s not a big deal.
I have noticed other theme components need updating, too. Will get to that in in a bit.
Please do report other bugs here. That would be very helpful. Discourse is indeed pretty complicated – amazing software though
The option to leave non-heart reactions (other emojis) is one thing I’ve noticed. Otherwise seems like a smooth experience ![]()

I seem to be able to do it. I’m using mobile at the moment.
It may be helpful if you indicate whether you are using a desktop browser or a mobile browser – appar etly, some of the logo issues are not problems for desktop users, although I have noticed that 2 if the dark themes show site logos in mobile
Works now. I was on a mobile device. Sorry about that.

I think I’ll have some time today to work on it.
