Songs for Mother's Day

I was looking for a particular song that I’d heard years ago. The lyrics went something like…“Here’s arose for picking my nose, here’s a rose for mending my clothes, here’s a rose da da da da da… here’s a rose to say I love you so”
Can’t find it now but I always loved this one too.

Wow…the talent gets pretty thin pretty quick when looking for songs in this category…

Thanks, navillus. I was disheartened when a new songs thread hadn’t been created in the last half an hour. I was devastated by the thought that the proliferation of threads had come to an end. :unamused:

Just trying to keep you busy…and I figured after the “songs about songs” thread that this was fairly reasonable.

And I thought nobody cared.

Grateful Dead - Mama Tried (Cover of a Merle Haggard tune)

First thing I remember knowing was that lonesome whistle blowing
And a young man’s dream of growing up to ride
On a freight train leaving town, not knowing where I’m bound
No-one could change my mind but mama tried

One and only rebel child, from a family meek and mild
Mama seemed to know what lay in store
In spite of all my Sunday learning towards the bad I kept on turning
Mama couldn’t hold me any more

And I turned twenty one in prison doing life without parole
No-one could steer me right but mama tried
Mama tried to raise me better but her pleading I denied
That leaves only me to blame 'cause mama tried

Dear old daddy, rest his soul, left my mom a heavy load
She tried so very hard to fill his shoes
Working hours without rest, wanted me to have the best
She tried to raise me right but I refused

And I turned twenty one in prison doing life without parole
No-one could steer me right but mama tried
Mama tried to raise me better but her pleading I denied
That leaves only me to blame 'cause mama tried

Good one.

We forgot some.
