The fried rice here in Southern taiwan is like the Japanese one (チャーハン) as uses short grain rice (Japanese rice) and some what sweet sauce. In North of Taiwan is less sweet. What kind of fried rice did you prefer and any good recommendations (I have a few I like, will add photos on my next visits with beer (or whisky in one shop)?
I like the most basic fried rice done well. No sauce, just eggs, some veggies, pork julienne, garlic and spring onions. If a chef can do that right, then I’m willing to try fancier fried rice from the place.
I like your taste! The place I like the most it’s simple as your mention it, it’s $100 (Like you there a few places I might pay more). The worst ones for me is too much salt and oil.
Other than the basic one, I like a good pineapple fried rice, perhaps with some turmeric to turn the dish golden.
Never had southern.
Standard Taiwanese fried rice aint bad at all if its done well.
But the meat portions are too small. Its like 95 to 5 ratio of meat and rice.
I found a vietnamese guy who uses far more meat. Not sure if thats typical for vietnamese fried rice or what.
I usually mix it in with some thai sweet chilli sauce, its lit. Real pity i moved house and can’t eat it anymore.
hey mate, you have post a photo and show off all that meat. Makes me think of vietnamese near my office, maybe lunch next few days now that it is on my mind (I think not as much meat though)
Find a place with decent 排骨炒飯, that should be enough meat.
Also looks good, more soy sauce (looks darker) maybe than one I have here.
Oilier than the typical Taiwanese one too. The gf wasn’t a fan.
Sorry, noticed now that it is off topic, so deleted it
