Hows it going guys? I was wondering if there’s such a thing called speed dating in taiwan? If yes, where can i find it?
Never noticed anything but I will ask my GF…closest I get is chatting to a customer on a Racetrack 
What is that? Is it what I’m thinking… like a man go to the betel nut shop, talk for a minute or two with the babe of the moment and then can get a fast toss in the hay? Is it that?
i guess it hasn’t caught up yet…but it’s 12 guys and 12 girls sitting in rows across each other in a restaurant or a bar…each couple has 5 mins to talk to each other before the guy has to move on to the next girl…at the end of the session, each will indicate who they would like to get to know better…
is there such a thing in TW?
I would say almost definitely no (but I could be wrong), unless it’s parents conspiring together to arrange a marriage for their children.
Young people (mostly college kids) do participate in 聯宜 activities, where basically a bunch of boys and girls go on trips together and see if they connect to anyone. But I don’t think it’s very much like what you’re seeking.
They tried it a few years ago http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/feat/archives/2004/10/22/2003207989 , that company appears to be no longer, but I am sure that you must be able to find something similar in Taipei if you do a search in Chinese.

True, but you can filter out all the weirdos. And sometimes, you actually can click with someone in just five minutes. It happens.

Actually yes…more than several females have told me that they know within the first 30 seconds of meeting the male if the male has a chance.
I saw on some Taiwan news program where there was some speed dating event. The setup is same as Western speed dating with guys and girls switching tables every few minutes. The only addition is that the Taiwanese guys show the girls his bank book, and the girls have that extra info to make her decision. Dating Taiwanese style is more like doing business.

Or just tell them that you are a doctor (Western medicine doctor, not Chinese medicine doctor) and they will be hooked in a sec, here in Taiwan the doctor line works better. I laugh about the guys getting a “manly” car or some other hot machine to impress the local women.
There are speed dating groups in Taipei. A few of my wife’s friends have been going trying them.
Yep, have seen them on TV news. Latest fad is speed dating while wearing a face mask, the clinical kind, not Halloween kind, so as not to be distracted by appearances. Mmm, now that would be interesting, see if with dark glasses and my best accent I can make them overlook that I am a furriner.
Well, I’ve had more than a few males who have cars tell me a car never hurts in attracting females.
As the old saying goes “the car is an extension of the male…”
…well…you get the idea.
Which makes the car and bank book all that more important for the male to attract the female…
