Spinach substitute?

I want to make a recipe that calls for spinach, but so far I have only seen spinach at costco, and I can’t make a trip out there right now. None of my local pxmarts or carrefours stock spinach. Of the more common green leafy vegetables available in Taipei, what is the closest to spinach or what would be the best substitute?

What is it you’re making?

Amaranth leaves would probably work unless you specifically need the slightly mucilaginous texture of true spinach. In that case you probably want to get some basella (not sure what it’s called in Mandarin), if you can find it this time of year.

Ah, OK. I’d go with amaranth - saag paneer is definitely not something you’d want to have any excess water.

Sweet potato leaves. Quite common at PX Mart and vegetable markets.

Looks like spinach but has almost no taste.

Perhaps thw local markets restaraunts buy at have spinach? Spinach is a dish somewhat common at restaurants, must be available cheap and easy.seedlings are sold at most chemical/fertilizer places selling plants over winter. We are growing some from there as well for fun.
