Trying to get money, insurance claims, attention, etc.
I heard these were becoming a thing in Taiwan but not sure how frequent.

I’m sure it’s anecdotal. I’m also sure some people will claim it’s all over the place and that it proofs pedestrians are the bad guys. This way hopefully nobody talks about the fact there’s not a single sidewalk on the video.

I remember the funny one with a taxi, IIRC. Some lad runs down the road and throws himself on the hood. Driver gets out and points at his camera.

Surely it is less frequent than before given the camera situation now?
That clip is not new, it’s been around a while, as well as this scam.
Another popular one is forcing you to hit the other car from behind by braking suddenly.

Yep saw this recently in person in banqiao. Car cut in front of car i was passenger in. Slams on brakes a couple of times. He even got out and looked at back of his car as if we had hit him. Total setup.
