Starbucks English translation error

Today in Starbucks I noticed a new item that looked interesting…

I bypassed looking at the Chinese and just translated the English “pineapple and bacon bread” into Chinese when ordering. Clerk didn’t understand (my substandard Chinese again?!) so she pointed to this item on the counter menu…

It’s the same on both, 義式雞肉濃湯麵包 (an “Italian style” tomato and chicken soup flavored bread) but obviously the bacon and pineapple on the first sign is wrong. I told the staff that the English on the display sign was wrong, but that’s likely not a priority for them.

Anyway, I ordered something else.

Those are the situations where a bad English translation is worse than no translation at all…

Starbucks can’t be bothered to pay for gpt. must reduce cost by nt$600/month!!

They probably copied and pasted the wrong item into the translator.
