Starting a business/company

My friend and I are planning on starting a small business, having computer products imported from China, and selling them in the U.S. (auction sites, and eventually on our own web site). Basically all we need to know is, what do we have to do in order to legally call ourselves a company, and to retail (if we need a retail license, business license, seller’s permit, etc). Thanks in advance.

What kind of company do you wanna set up? Under the company law there are different kinds of companies eg, company limited, company limited by shares, unlimited company.

The other thing is just to set up a representative or branch office of a existing company in your homecountry.

So first of all, you have to decide what kind of company you wanna start and then you need to follow a registration procedure with register a chinese name, english name etc.

hint: U can also go to the ministry of foreign affairs behind the Mitsokoshi tower at the Taipei Main Station. There u can pick up free brochures about that topic as well.

How much dough are you willing to put up?

Are any of you Taiwanese?

A 公社 with import/export rights costs NT$7500 to set up, or at least that was what I paid for that piece of paper.

A limited, then you are looking at a bond of at least NT$500k.

It’s easy and your local accountant can help you.

Most of the documentation needed is to show that the company has a legal residence.

Anyone know how to start a publishing company here?

I heard that it is quite straightforward, anyone know what to do about it?

To all asking:

I assume that you have a Taiwanese, who can front and/or is willing to be the owner of a proprietorship or other fully local company.

Go see an accountant. Preferably a local one. I got mine set up and received a very good and professional service from my accountant.

caligreen,

If you’re going to sell in the USA over the internet. Not much. The regulations for international internet business are almost non-existant.

However, if your going up against Dell and Compaq, you should have something here in the USA to earn the US customer trust. XYZ inc. in ROC doesn’t really get you that.
