Hello. I was wondering if anyone had any good advice here? I’m a Canadian citizen and I have become certified in teaching a martial art called Krav Maga. I’ve been certified through this organization. www.commandokravmaga.com. I’m interested in comming to Taiwan to either start up a Krav Maga training center, either that teach for another Mixed Martial Arts school within Taiwan. Now from what I understand, I will either need a business visa or a work visa of some sort. I know that for a work visa, I need an employer to sponsor me. Now I also learned that within Taiwan you need a University education and degree before you can qualify for a work visa. Especially if you’re teaching English. Due to the fact that I have only a high school education and krav Maga certification, is it possible for a person running an existing Mixed Martial Arts school to still sponsor me for a work visa? Also, if this is a case where I would need a business visa to do this, would my procedure be to get the the company itself which certified me to sponsor me for this visa? Also, due to the fact I have a business visa, would I have to get my Krav Maga students to make payments to me directly? Or would they have to make payments internationally to the company which sponsored me which then in terms would pay me directly? Reason why I ask this last question is because I have been told that when you work in a different country like Taiwan, Japan, or china you can’t get paid within the country you are in. If there’s anyone here who has any advice, I’d really appreciate it. thanks.

Hmm, Is Krav Maga from Brasil?
I don’t think there are many Taiwanese know about this.
If you want to start up the center, then you have to do more work ,I think.
I know some people are interested in this.
Good Luck!

I think its from Israel[/quote]Yes. Krav Maga is from Israel. I was told that I could get a work visa if someone sponsored me. It would have to be a Taiwanese employer. Now there’s one thing I noticed. To get a work visa, you need a University degree (which I don’t have). Now is this a rule only for English Teachers in Taiwan that they must have a degree of some sort? Or is this a rule that anyone getting a work visa for anything must have a degree?
If you start your own business then you will not face the requirement of a degree to get an ARC. However you will likely need to invest at least TW$5 million in the business to get an ARC this way.
Some of the big gyms around here sponsor work visas for foreign martial arts teachers – I know of a guy who has one for Capoeira. His contract them is very tight, though, and for instance forbids him to take any students except through the gym.

And did the gym that sponsored him for his visa require that he had a university degree?
Dunno, and dunno, sorry. But you could try emailing them – World Gym and California Fitness are the names that spring to mind for down here in Taichung … sure there are others in Taipei.

Know where I could get them?
California Fitness
californiafitness.com/contac … country=tw
World Gym
worldgymtaiwan.com.tw only has a Join Us form, as far as I can tell.
Alias1983, did you happen to find out anything about Krav Maga programs or gyms in Taipei? I’ve been looking to learn, but havent been able to find anything in the area yet… What part of Taiwan are you looking to move too?
I hope your business kicks ass.
