Study Abroad at NTU

Hello! I am planning to study abroad at NTU in the spring 2021 semester. I know Taiwan is doing pretty well right now with COVID but I’m still worried that my program will be cancelled. I really haven’t seen much updates regarding exchange students and stuff so what do you guys think?
Thank you!

Anything can happen, but your chances in Taiwan are better than most.

Thank you for your quick reply!

I am in the same boat hoping to start a grad program in Spring 2021. I think/hope that the Taiwan government won’t backtrack on letting in students. If they were going to do it, I think they’d have said so by now. I suspect they are looking more at new case levels in TW as opposed to what’s going on in the US or Europe. TW has been averaging only 2-4 new cases for months now, so it seems pretty stable.

MOE said that they were going to start discussing “after October” but did not specify when they will make a decision. According to a non verified source, they will be announcing “something” this week or next week.

So far it appears that degree seeking students have been given priority to enter and study. It’s unclear if exchange students will be around, especially as Taiwan’s CDC has been making noises that they will likely tighten, not relax, entry requirements as the pandemic surges in the northern hemisphere.

In short: I’d advise you to be prepared to have a Plan B.

If you have any question about that you should write directly to the NTU office of international affairs. No one here would have any answer.
