Hi all!
I am a longtime Danshui resident and avid grub gobbler. I’d like to introduce this fairly new place.
Run by a Taiwanese man who has spent many years in Europe, including the UK, it offers traditional fish and chips - with fries, coleslaw, mushy peas, and tartar sauce - at reasonable prices. For Taiwan, the quality is quite good. The man knows what he is doing. There is also a selection of imported English beers.
Twice I had the cod and chips (about 330NT for the full set with a coke added). I was quite full! It tasted very munchable, and settled well in my stomach. The grease level was OK, given that it is fish and chips!
It is located on Zhongshan Road, above the main tourist area in Danshui. You can either go up Zhongshan from downtown, turning left where Eddy’s Burrito used to be (by the overpass) and on the way to the historic district on the hill. Or you can take Danshui Old Street and go up the hill from the intersection with the statue of Mackay.
