Summer 2012 Youth Program?

I know it’s a bit early for this but I wanted to get a head start- does anyone know of a good summer program for a high school student (16 yrs old)? He’s a descendant who has never been to Taiwan, does not speak Mandarin or Taiwanese.

I think he’s a bit young for the Love Boat program (they don’t seem to be doing high school age now). The language part is a plus but I really want him to experience the country & culture with peers. I did a program like this years ago in Taichung but can’t seem to find anything on it- this one was for overseas Chinese but not necessarily ABCs (cause I was born in Japan) but he would qualify for ABC status.

How about you ask any of the 18+ programs if they could accommodate your son?

Have tried Taipei Language Institute (private) ? Or the Shi-Da Mandarin Training Center (public) ? Or Taiwan HuaYu (private) ? The two private ones will probably be a little more flexible, I would definitely give it a try though!
