I actually never knew some of these things. There was always some doubts about how quickly his body deteriorated in so many ways beyond gaining weight. One thing in particular that we were not told is that he was (maybe still is but hopefully not) an alcoholic.
And he was on a vegan diet before. Not sure how that impacts his health but I would guess it changes the results going from vegan to eating McDonald’s every meal.
No one has been able to replicate the results of the documentary as well.
I have gone through periods of eating a lot of McDonald’s in college. And Particularly in Taiwan where you could actually order it late night. I would go binge on huge orders maybe up to 5-6 times a week for a few weeks.
I never saw much weight gain myself and I’ve even lost weight as weird as it sounds in college eating a lot of McDonald’s during exam week where I would eat it between intense studying all nighters. I think it’s probably because I lost muscle mass even if I did get more fat with the net weight being less.
I’m not saying it’s healthy but It does bring some doubts to the accuracy of the documentary.
I always thought the movie must be fake. I’ve been eating McDonald’s consistently for 45 years and never had major issues. Yes, I might be a few dozen pounds above non-US average weight, but I’m happy as fuck!
I’m not sure I never knew anything about the movie other than the dude eating a shitton of crap food gained a lot of weight. shocker (and reproducible)!
Well, if he was already consistently drinking before his experiment, then it shouldn’t have any affect, right? Since the alcohol is a constant.
McDonald’s is actually my favorite fast-food restaurant (not including the fake ones that are actually made to order), and I usually do gain a little weight if I eat there more than a couple of times a week.
had a big mac and felt sick after eating it. I can simply not understand how someone would fit a double of those down their maw. I think the Quarter Pounder (Royale with Cheese ) is fine, as is the double burger, but I think the sauce on the big mac or something pushes it over the ledge of ‘I can stomach this’ for some reason.
A bad documentary called ‘Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?’ which didn’t find him at all, and then a year later Navy SEALs found him in a completely different place and killed him.
MeToo’ed himself in a lengthy blog post detailing all his past sexual misconduct. Basically committed career suicide (even though he had only made one hit documentary over a decade before). His vegan wife who costarred in SSM also left him.
I completely forgot about this film. I never saw it, but remember people making a big fuss about it at the time. According to Wikipedia, “Spurlock guesses that bin Laden is likely hiding in Abbottabad, Pakistan, where he was found three years later.” I’m curious if this was an impressive guess at the time or if everybody was speculating that anyway as I can’t remember.
