Survey: effects of US taxation/banking policies on your life in Taiwan

Hi all,

There’s a new group that’s been set up, Stop Extraterritorial Taxation of Americans (SEAT) that’s running a survey at the moment. They’re gathering information about the impact of US tax (eg tax based on nationality) and banking (FBAR, FACTA, etc) policy on US national’s lives overseas.

If this applies to you, you might want to fill it out:

The organisation behind it is at: http://seatnow.org/ ; I have no affiliation with them at all, have just heard enough Americans grumbling about taxes and banking that thought some folks might be interested in this kind of thing

Doesn’t affect me in the slightest, but it’s about time. US tax regulations are both bizarre and unfair. I’m surprised the US is as successful as it is given its third-world tax framework.

Not even sure this will affect anything in the slightest.

They have made it extremely expensive to renounce citizenship, and renouncing citizenship for tax reason is actually a ground of inadmissibility!

The US is a third world country masquerading as a first world country.

Thanks for the post !

I have had a rough time with taiwan banks only because im American

your Information is appreciated

Do you have Taiwanese ID? Is there some way of not disclosing the fact that you’re American? Is it a crime to do so?

Can i get a id on a tourist visa?

Obviously this will only work if you are a dual citizen…
