If anyone has had a go on these, what do you think of them? How is the ride comfort?
I’ve been driving a T2 for over a year and a half now. It’s a great little bike for getting around town and cruising mountain roads. The display is well laid out and can tell you everything you need to know at a glance. The seat is comfortable, but the handle bars were a bit too low and V shaped to be comfortable on longer rides. You can change them with the addition of a triple tree. Transmission can be a bit clunky sometimes but it has almost 30,000 km on it without any major engine or drive train problems . I would recommend getting a larger rear sprocket, swap the tires out to something with more grip like the Diablo Rossa II or Battlax bt39, a larger front break disc and 4 piston caliper, and add an after market exhaust to cut weight and improve the sound. You can also get an after market rear suspension relatively cheap and front forks if your willing to spend the 30k. If you have any problems with the bike, try to find a SYM SBC (SanYang Best Care) mechanic as they have more training on the T2.
And if you do get any mods, make sure to keep the original parts.
The T3 is basically the same bike with 278.3cc engine and BOSCH ABS front breaks. There is also the new SYM CB300 and CR300 with the same engine but more of a cafe racer style.
Been thinking for a while about buying one as they are getting down to a reasonable price around 75,000 for a used T2. I liked the style and flat seat on the CR300 but can’t justify paying almost double the price for something basically the same.
I rode a T2 for a couple days, the transmission is definitely very clunky am sure is the same one from there Wolf series of bikes. But the seat was great and I very much enjoyed the size of the bike. WIth being made in Taiwan parts are cheaper and it is easier to find a mechanic. And from what I gather are very reliable bike.
ALthough I am still caught between this or a FZR as a weekend rider, will definitely have to ride the T2 a bit more
Thanks guys. I’ve been looking at this bike for a while now along with the R3 Yamaha.
I have owned 2 YZF 150 bikes (both of them second hand) and I loved them when they worked
. The first one was a lemon but the second one was very good. If you get your hands on a good one, go for it.
On a few days of my week I drive over a hundred kilometers for the day for classes, so I need something that is comfortable, but also able to cruise at a healthy pace. I’m on a 150 Hartford now which which has the speed and the grunt to get me where I want to go, but the suspension is from an ox plough :raspberry: .
My bike repair shop has also given me a price for the Yamaha R3 - NT$ 238 000 - new. So many things to consider…
The Yamaha would be a much nicer bike but also more likely to get stolen. Also consider that you can pick up a second hand T2 for around 80,000 nt.
