Has anyone been here? I heard that they offer brews that aren’t commonly available in stores, and that they sell food and offer brewery tours as well…
I saw on their website that they have two types of brewery tours: one that requires a group of at least 6 people, and a “DIY Tour.” Problem is, when you click on the “DIY" Tour,” it says that section of the website is under construction.
So I’m wondering: has anyone been on a self-guided tour, and if so, are reservations required?
Unfortunately, tours are only given on the weekdays during working hours to groups of 6 or more people – at least as of January of this year. I was told this by a brewery representative over email.
A small group of us went anyway. Basically, there’s a gift shop selling kaoliang in fancy, ceramic bottles that are really works of art, and a 7-11 with Taiwan Gold Medal on tap. The selection of Taiwan beer was similar to what you’d find at other 7-11s – so nothing special. Although at the time, they had one whole section of the fridge dedicated to Taiwan Beer’s limited edition of Coriander Beer. In the back of this 7-11 is a display with photos and plaques of text outlining the history of Taiwan Beer.
Oh – there was a Tasting Room, but there was a private party being held there with loud KTV music the day we went. There was an intercom and buzzer on the door, and so it did not look open to the public.
As a 7-11 outing, it’s a great experience. But if you’re expecting a true brewery experience with a tasting room, don’t bother.
