Is there a direct bus route from Taichung to Hualien which would travel across the map instead of taking the train and going around the coast line? If it exists is it necessarily faster or cheaper?

Hey all, First of all, happy holidays to you. I would like to go to Taidong for the New Year with some friends, for a possible stay on Green Island. However, the trains are quite full already, so I might need to take a bus to get to Taidong. Does anybody have specific information which company (ies)run(s) on that trajectory, and where we have to get on? I would think around Taipei Main Station, but I am not sure. Thanks in advance! From North to Taitung - which way is the quickest

what is the quickest way to travel to Green Island, except for flying? We are considering a road trip from Hsinchu (Xinzhu), I was wondering whether it is faster going all the way down to Pingdong with the highway and cut over the mountain to Taidong, or is it better [faster] to go round the East side of the island? Any ideas?

Driving from Hualien to Kaohsiung

I know the routes available and I would rather prefer to make it a slow ride and enjoy my first driving expirience on that route down south, never made it further down than about 30 km south of Hualien. Unforutnatley it will be a rather rushed thing, need to be in Hualien on the 4th till about 5pm and than leave with the car and go to Kaohsiung City. The governement booked our hotel already in Kaohsiong but the main point is that we need to be there before afternoon to do our stuff there again. …

What would be the best way to get from Yilan to Hsinchu? I have heard about the east west Highway, but can’t find any info on it. Do buses go on that highway? Thanks for any info.
