Taipei Fine Arts Museum Exhibitions

Seems like there’s usually at least one good exhibit. And cheap at NT$30/~$1 USD.

Right now there’s a good digital interactive one at B1 good for adults and kids. No this isn’t it but you can also take a nap, have coffee and eat.

I went to a good one recently with drawings by someone, I posted somewhere. Can’t beat the price, though I avoided it by going in the back door lol.

That looks awesome.

That looks weak. Like watching a King of the Hill episode. I guess I’ll never understand art.

For interested forumosans, this show—opening today at TFAM—looks terrific:

There are a couple of worthwhile exhibits currently running at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. However, when I say currently, that is short lived as one exhibit ends September 21st and the other September 29th so if you’re interested only a couple of days left.

Olafur Eliasson: Your curious journey

It is a very visually stimulating and exciting experience involving light, space, water, film, objects, and materials by an Icelandic-Danish artist. It’s a real sensory experience I enjoyed very much. This one ends on the 21st.

After this try going upstairs to 3F for much more sublime experience.

Virtue and Beauty: A Tribute to Ni Chiang-Huai

Watercolor paintings by a significant Taiwanese artist depicting scenes in Taiwan and abroad roughly 100 years ago. It is a well-deserved extensive exhibit of a significant figure in Taiwanese art history:

Between these two very different exhibits I spent a very pleasant afternoon at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum.

And I still marvel at how Taiwan keeps it’s museums very egalitarian and accessible. Tickets are NT$30.

I recommend the Ni Chiang-Huai exhibition. Taiwan in the 20s/30s.
