They build up this show every time like it is some great international show with concept cars from all over the world, or custom cars, or interesting rare cars, but then only have the same local cars that you can go to any dealer in Taipei and view. Really a let down, although some of the car show girls are worth a look, not all, but a few.
It is basically a consolidated dealer showroom for all the dealers in Taiwan. Not really a true car show.
I went to the car show when I first bought my old car to try to make a connection with one of the dealer’s service department managers. I figured it would be the best chance of finding someone who spoke English. Actually, it served me quite well as I met the VP of After-sales who hooked me up with his service manager, and they have taken good care of my car for the past 4 years.
But the show itself is disappointing. It does just seem like a collection of dealers showing their cars all in one spot, with nothing special or unique to see. This year, though, there was the new Luxgen car they are launching. I wasn’t impressed, but at least it was different.
The obsession with show girls, though, is really something. SWARMS of people shooting pictures of the show girls, while the car displays were largely ignored. They ought to just drop the pretext and just have show girl expo’s.
But, you DO understand why they can’t drop the pretext of cars or computers… the nerds have to pretend that they’re actually interested in something other than “hitting their handguns” all day in front of the computer, while desperately hoping for a girlfriend. When they realize that their chances are slim to nil… and that they can’t go to America to teach Chinese and have women lined up just because they’re from Taiwan… the closest they can ever get to a woman is at a “show”.
