Basically, on May 21, 2024, the ten-year anniversary of the Taipei MRT stabbings, some dumb-ass 20-year-old decided that he was “dissatisfied with the state of Taiwan’s society” – and what better way to make a positive contribution to society than to take three knives onto the Taichung MRT and try to kill people? Fortunately, he was stopped by passengers, two of whom were injured but none killed.
He was sentenced to ten years, which was reduced to nine years and nine months. So, depending on just when his sentence began, he could be out just in time to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Taipei stabbings.
