Since Sept. 2007, investigators in Taiwan began tracking Shiu, who was teaching English and living under the name Tony Jiang. But it would be Shiu’s fake IDs with his new alias that would ultimately be his undoing.
Authorities tell AMW that Shiu’s new identity sent red flags to law enforcement in Asia, resulting in his capture.
Security officers from the American Institute in Taiwan discovered where Shiu was living and helped to apprehend him. While Shiu was in Taiwanese custody for a number of days, he was ultimately expelled from the country.
On May 29, 2008, Shiu arrived in the U.S. and was taken into custody once the plane landed in San Francisco by Deputy U.S. Marshals, who were on Shiu’s flight. Shiu is currently being held at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, Calif. on federal and local charges. . .
Cops say that a doctor in northern California stands accused of taking hundreds of photographs of roughly 19 of his patients – the problem is that the patients were unconscious and semi-nude.
Authorities believe that Dr. Tony Shiu is also responsible for drugging two men who were both patients from Shiu’s Dublin, Calif. medical clinic. Shiu is suspected of raping one of the men. Detectives searching Shiu’s home later found approximately 450 digital photos of men in various states of undress who were unconscious and unaware that they were being photographed.
Cops in Dublin began investigating Shiu after reports on August 19, 2006 from two men who claimed they had began a night out with Shiu at his home in Dublin. The two men say they woke up the next day with no recollection of the night before. One man told police that Shiu was fondling him when he woke up . . . one of the men had been sodomized . . .[/quote]
